EVANGELIST EBENEZER OBEY

(TRADE NEWSWIRE): The Juju turned Gospel singer, Evangelist Ebenezer Obey Fabiyi, was recently presented with N3.06m cheque as copyright royalties by the Chairman, Copyright Society of Nigeria (COSON), Tony Okoroji, TRADE NEWSWIRE reports.

COSON was said to have distributed N100m royalty out of which Obey received a cheque of N3.06m.

“It is sad that Nigerian artistes could receive royalties for their music used in some other countries but not one kobo for their music used in their own country,” Obey said.

Okoroji who presented the cheque to Obey said the cheque would have been sent to Evangelist Obey quietly as is the case with hundreds of others but that the Obey chose to make it public so that Nigerians know that the society’s royalty scheme is indeed true.

Music personalities who were present during the presentation of the cheque were Banky W; Azeezat Allen; Efe Omorogbe; Obi Asika and Audu Maikori; Segun Demuren and John Ewelukwa Udegbunam.
