|TRADE NEWSWIRE|: The Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency, NIMASA, has honoured staff and stakeholders who have distinguished themselves in their services to the nation’s maritime sector, TRADE NEWSWIRE reports.
The Director-General, NIMASA, Dr Dakuku Peterside, in his opening speech at the NIMASA’s Corporate Dinner And Award Night on Saturday in Lagos said the event would enable the honoured staff contribute more meaningfully to the development of the Agency and maritime sector at large.
“Today in the presence of the Board Chairman of NIMASA, General Jonathan India Garba, we will be honoring our best, we will be honoring those who have distinguished themselves, and those who have stayed awake overnight to ensure that our ships are safe. We will also be honoring stakeholders who have contributed their best over the years to the development of the industry,” Peterside said.
Peterside assured Nigerians that there were better days ahead, as the Agency has left Egypt for Israel and would never go back to Egypt, meaning that NIMASA had moved forward in all ramifications as it relates to internal and external operating factors of the Agency that are of positive consequential effects to the development of the organization and maritime sector at large.
The NIMASA DG thanked the Minister of Transport, Rt. Hon. Rotimi Amaechi, for his supports for NIMASA and the maritime sector as a whole, just as he also saluted the Minister of Labour and Employment, Dr. Chris Ngige, for his contributions to labour-related issues in the country, while also appreciating his presence at the event.
The Royal Father of the day at the event, the Oba of Lagos (Eleko of Eko), His Royal Highness, Rilwan Akiolu, was specially praised by NIMASA DG, as a King worthy of emulation, considering the fact that Oba Akiolu, was not late to the event, as he was on ground before the event started, he saluted his time consciousness and also thanked him for ensuring peaceful co-existence of people leaving and working in Lagos.
The event had all NIMASA staff across the nation on ground, whom the DG saluted the courage and meaningful contributions so far; representative of sister Agencies; and stakeholders in the maritime sector.
