Hadiza Bala Usman, A Socio-Economic Reformer and Managing Director of the Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA), was born in Zaria on January 2, 1976

Hadiza Bala Usman, an activist and politician, was formerly the Chief of Staff to the Kaduna State Governor before she was appointed on Monday 11 July 2016 by President Muhammadu Buhari to manage NPA.

She was fathered by a late historian, Yusufu Bala Usman, an employee of Ahmadu Bello University, where Hadiza lived and earned her Bachelor’s degree in 2000 while her master’s degree was bagged from the University of Leeds in 2009.

Her working career cuts-across Centre for Democratic Development and Research Training (CEDDERT), for a non-governmental organization in Zaria in 1999 as a Research Assistant to Bureau of Public Enterprises (BPE) as a Special Assistant to the FCT Minister on Project Implementation in 2011.Also as Director of Strategy for the Good Governance Group (3G) in 2015 before her appointment as the Chief of Staff to the Kaduna State Governor.
