|TRADE NEWSWIRE|: Traditional rulers and Community leaders will henceforth be involved in identifying preferred projects for execution under the Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) based projects in Host Communities of the Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA), TRADE NEWSWIRE reports.
A Socio-Economic Reformer and Managing Director of the Nigerian Ports Authority, Hadiza Bala Usman, however reiterated that all identified projects are to be prioritised in accordance with the CSR policy of the Organisation.
Hadiza Bala Usman was speaking through Engr. Dayo Taiwo of the Engineering Division, who led a delegation of Officers of the Authority on inspection visit to some proposed CSR projects in Ele and Onne Communities in Rivers State.
A statement obtained by TRADE NEWSWIRE by the General Manager, Corporate and Strategic Communications of NPA, Alhaji Abdullahi Goje, While reiterating that the Authority would continue to pursue its CSR policy vigorously, the Managing Director restated that the Organisation shall always accord premium to the needs of its Host Communities.
At the Ele Community, the Paramount King of Ele, His Royal Majesty, Fred Tiene Iyawo Perefi, who praised the NPA Management for the initiative, expressed optimism that the presence of the Authority in the Community through the execution of projects such as town hall, bore hole and other social amenities would motivate the Ele people in diaspora to return home.
The Paramount King who enumerated the preferred projects for his Community in order of priority to the delegation, commended the Authority for not forgetting the Community in its CSR policy.
At Onne, the Paramount Ruler and Clan Head of Onne, His Royal Highness, King (Dr) J. D. Osaronu who traced the history of the presence of the NPA in their Community, opined that the Community should be specially treated under the CSR policy of the Organisation.
King Osaronu who enumerated the preferred requirements of his Kingdom to the delegation pointed out that the people of his Community would always see NPA as a partner in progress and do everything possible to ensure the smooth running of its operation in the area.
